How Voltex works
A peer-to-peer trade is a swap between two people who have never met. The whole design of Voltex answers one question: who holds the money while they find out whether the other one is honest.
The answer is escrow
Voltex does. The moment a trade opens, the seller's USDT moves out of their spendable balance and into escrow. The seller cannot withdraw it. The buyer cannot claim it without paying. It is released only when the seller confirms the payment arrived, or when a person at Voltex decides an appeal.
A trade, step by step
- Pick an offer. Every offer shows the merchant's rate, their limits, the payment methods they accept, and how many trades they have completed.
- Open the trade. The USDT is locked in escrow immediately. You get 15 minutes to pay — a countdown both sides can see.
- Pay the merchant directly. Through Telebirr, a bank transfer, or whichever method the offer named. Voltex never touches your local currency.
- Mark it paid. This starts the merchant's own countdown to release, and opens a chat where you can send the transfer receipt.
- The merchant releases. The escrowed USDT lands in your Voltex wallet. From there you can withdraw it on-chain or keep it to sell later.
When it goes wrong
Either side can appeal. Nothing is released automatically while an appeal is open — the money stays exactly where it is. A person reads the chat, looks at the receipts, and decides. That is why identity verification is required before trading: an appeal that cannot identify either party cannot be decided fairly.
What it costs
0.3% of the trade, charged to the merchant who posted the offer. If you are buying, the price on the offer is the price you pay. There is no separate buyer fee, no spread added at the last screen, and no charge for opening an account. See fees and limits for the full picture.
The two wallets
Your trading balance is the USDT you can offer or spend on Voltex. Money moved into escrow is shown separately as locked — still yours, just not spendable until the trade settles. Withdrawing sends USDT to any BEP20 address you control.
